Frequently Asked Questions
SNOW BOOTS & SWIMMING SUITS!?!
Midway, Utah became a relaxing retreat location over 120 years ago because of the area’s natural warm mineral water craters. The Zermatt Resort and its sister property the Homestead Resort offer a myriad of activities including cross country skiing, snow shoeing, sleigh rides plus a well appointed fitness center & full service spa. One of the most unique features of the paired resorts is the Homestead Crater, a naturally occurring, mineral water fed limestone beehive with 90-96 degree water perfect for soaking, swimming or even scuba diving.
DRESS CODE
The Convergence style guide is the same as the Sundance Film Festival’s: Winter casual. The typical Convergence “uniform” is snow boots, jeans, and a ski jacket or ski vest (plus mittens, scarves, etc.). For past attendees: the Zermatt is much more physically connect property than the Homestead so you’ll be able to get from room to convergence with much fewer layers.
THINK ALPINE CHALET (like visiting the mountains of Switzerland)
The Zermatt Resort has a large central registration area, two restaurants and conference center. Most of the guest rooms are hotel style & attached to the central area but there are also condo style accommodations available in adjoining buildings. The conference center is directly adjacent to the central building so session rooms are just a few steps away.
INTERNET CONNECTIVITY
The Zermatt Resort has FREE wireless Internet in all the guest rooms and conference rooms throughout the resort and the capacity of the wireless access was recently improved. Bring your laptop and know you can connect with home and office from anywhere in the resort.
CELL PHONE CONNECTIVITY
Verizon Wireless has solid coverage and works everywhere. All other cell phone carriers have signal availability, but rather spotty coverage.
BUSINESS CENTER
The Convergence office will have one printer which you may use to print documents from your lap top. The Zermatt has a very nice business center with a few computers and workstations for laptops. They provide copying and faxing services as well.
GETTING TO THE ZERMATT
The Resort is 51 miles from the Salt Lake City International Airport. In good weather it takes about an hour to drive to the Resort from the airport. Park City is about half way between Salt Lake and the Zermatt. The official transportation provider for the AHC is Aspen Transportation (435) 657-1223. They have an airport rate set up for Convergence Delegates, call to make a reservation. Express Shuttle, located at the airport, also has reasonable rates.
THE RESORT IS PEACEFUL (meaning it is a bit remote)
You will be kept very busy during the Convergence. Most meals are provided as part of your Convergence fee and there are two restaurants and a small bakery at the resort. There are other restaurants, shops, and services in the nearby town of Midway but you will need an automobile or take a taxi to reach them.
DINING AT THE ZERMATT
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available in the casual restaurant, Matty’s. The more formal Schnietter’s serves dinner nightly. Matty’s is also the on-site full service bar and there is also full bar service at Schnietter’s.
Most of your meals are provided by the Convergence sponsors at no additional charge to delegates. These meals will be schedule in various locations in the Conference Center. A vegetarian option will be provided for all meals. Let us know if you prefer the vegetarian option and please tell us in advance about any dietary restrictions.
