Art House Convergence Network (AHCN)
If you’ve ever been to any of the Art House Convergence Film Theaters Conference gatherings (started in 2007) you know the thrill of meeting fellow professionals from around the nation. Participants enthusiastically cite the inspiration and excitement that comes from sharing ideas and best practices, as well as the meaningful dialogue generated when a room full of kindred spirits — each working to build the future of cinema — join together.
The Art House Convergence Network is an evolving communications and organizing tool run by and for art house cinemas nationwide. Its mission is to keep the dialogue and information sharing that happens at the convergence accessible to participants all year long. The goal of the network is to provide resources and support to serve participants and ensure the sustainability and capacity of art house theaters. One long-term goal of the AHCN is to create a cohesive national membership organization of independent cinemas and associated professionals.
The AHCN is open to any community-based, mission driven art house theater willing to share basic contact and operating information with the network. Attendance at the annual Art House Convergence is not required for participation, but is strongly encouraged.
The AHCN looks to the principles outlined in the Homestead Declaration, delivered by Michael Moore as a key note address at the 2010 Convergence, and adopted by the attendees of the 2011 Convergence.
