“The major exhibition chains have ShoWest in Las Vegas. The independent venues have Art House Convergence in Midway, Utah.”
— Variety, January 2011
The Art House Convergence Film Theaters Conference is an educational program organized by the Art House Project theaters of the Sundance Institute. At this important annual conference, delegates enjoy inspirational speakers, informative sessions and panel discussions that provide productive tips about programming, marketing, fundraising, technology and industry trends to help improve the quality and effectiveness of community-based art house cinemas.
Independent art house operators gather annually to discuss common challenges and share successes and secrets at the AHC Indie Film Conference each January just before the start of the Sundance Film Festival. This annual conference is designed for community-based, mission-driven film exhibitors and community cinema programmers. These independent Art House cinemas rely on local communities for support, both from box office and concession revenue and, to truly thrive, grow and serve, from philanthropic gifts and volunteer support.
The 2012 Convergence will be held at The Zermatt Resort, an authentically designed alpine resort in Midway, Utah at the base of the 13,000 foot high Wasatch mountain range. Park City, home of the Sundance Film Festival, is about a 30-minute drive from the Zermatt.
